Compare National Power Metrics by Country

Compare country-level national power metrics including population, GDP, defense budgets, land area, waterfront, satellites, airports, R&D, and military service capacity. Use the A/B comparison tool or rank all countries by any national metric below.

MetricCountry ACountry B
A/B bars are normalized within each metric to the larger absolute value. Negative values retain their sign; pairs without two single numerical values are not charted.

Rank Every Country by Any Metric (Top to Bottom)

RankCountryValue
Table lists all countries. Chart shows up to N numerical references in the selected sort order; ranges, bounds and unavailable values remain unranked. Equal values share a rank.

Sources and National Metrics Method

The National Metrics tool uses MPR country-level reference data to compare population, military service capacity, territory, GDP, defense spending, infrastructure, satellites, research spending, and mobilization-related indicators. These figures are context metrics rather than full combat-power rankings and should be read alongside the MPR source library, country-specific sources, algorithm notes, and 209-factor framework.

How to read these references

Values are shown as recorded. Observation dates and field-specific source references are not established for these entries; numerical order does not establish that their dates or definitions are directly comparable. Spending figures are not necessarily from the same year or accounting basis.

Only explicit single numerical values are plotted and ranked. Ranges, bounds and unavailable text stay visible without becoming zero or an assumed lower bound. A stated zero remains zero. Expenditure trends retain their stated time window; the start and end dates are not established here.

Waterfront includes sea coasts, lake shores and river banks. A landlocked country can therefore have waterfront. The listed lengths are retained references; their exact measurement method and extent have not been verified. Population available for service is a reference pool, not a finding that every person is medically eligible or trained.
