Nuclear States 2026

This MPR list identifies nuclear-armed states in the 2026 Military Power Rankings system. Countries are ordered by their overall MPR global rank, not by nuclear inventory size alone.

Nuclear capability can affect deterrence, escalation risk, strategic depth, and alliance behavior. MPR evaluates nuclear status alongside conventional military strength, force readiness, geography, logistics, missile capability, command structure, industrial endurance, and overall warfighting capacity.

Why Nuclear Status Matters in MPR

Nuclear weapons can shape the strategic environment around a country, but MPR does not treat nuclear status as a substitute for total military power. A nuclear-armed state may still rank lower than another country if its conventional forces, readiness, geography, logistics, industry, or operational capability are weaker.
